I
have had several different phases to my life since my reign. The
years following my reign took me to Auburn University where I
completed my degree in pharmacy. I also became involved in the
production of the Miss Chatt pageant and later co-founded an
open Miss Alabama preliminary in the Valley area.Tom and I
then moved to Atlanta where I continued my career as a
pharmacist and began another career as a mom to two wonderful
boys. I have served in leadership roles with local PTA
organizations, parent representative to school council, and
co-president for local parent council. I have been involved in
organizing several women's health conferences and legislative
forum on educational issues.
For the past ten years, I traded sequins and chiffon for
baseball caps and sneakers. Both of my sons are gifted athletes.
We spend a great deal on time on dusty baseball fields, sweaty
gyms and noisy football stadiums and love every minute of it!
I recently had the opportunity to serve as co-director for
our local high school pageant.
My most memorable experience as Miss Chatt had to be the
night that I was crowned as Miss Chatt. Like many young girls
growing up in the Valley, I had followed the pageant since I was
a little girl and couldn't wait until I could be one of the
pageant participants. Hearing my name announced as Miss Chatt
was a surreal experience!
My advise to the Miss Chatts to come would be very simple.
Take advantage of the gifts that you have been given to touch
the lives of others and make a difference in this world. To
anyone that may consider participating, "The experience and
confidence that you will gain by going through this process will
benefit you for life." |
